Custom King-Size Storage Bed with Hand-Tufted Headboard
This project was a complete custom furniture build designed to combine high-end luxury with practical, space-saving functionality. The goal was to create a "kingly" centerpiece for the master bedroom that eliminated the need for bulky dressers or traditional box springs.
The Build & Engineering
The foundation is a heavy-duty solid frame, engineered to provide superior structural support. By building the support system directly into the base, I created a platform that acts as a built-in box spring—only a mattress is needed for an incredibly comfortable and stable sleep surface.
Key Features:
- Hand-Tufted Headboard: Standing five feet tall, the headboard was hand-made using a rich, plush velour-type material. I used eight large matching buttons to create deep tufting into the underlying cushion, achieving a soft, sophisticated, and "plush" aesthetic.
- Integrated Storage: The main functional feature is the inclusion of four massive storage drawers (two on each side). These were custom-sized to easily accommodate large pillows, heavy bedding, and seasonal linens, keeping the bedroom clutter-free.

A beautiful, durable, and highly functional piece of furniture that provides the comfort of a luxury hotel bed with the added benefit of massive integrated storage.
